Our Story

Born in the heart of Colombia, InTuchin Handicrafts is more than just a store; it is a celebration of the rich heritage of the Zenú region. Our brand’s story traces back to the ancient traditions of the Sábana del Zenú, a region where caña fleha is woven not just as a material, but as an expression of identity and pride. Our mission is to preserve this tradition and bring it to the world, sharing with our customers products that are the result of centuries of skill, dedication, and passion.

Since our inception, we have been committed to creating products that are not only beautiful but also tell a story. Each piece we sell is a tribute to the artisans who have dedicated their lives to perfecting their craft. By shopping at InTuchin Handicrafts, you are not just purchasing a product but also a piece of Colombian culture and history.

Values and Sustainability

At InTuchin Handicrafts, our values are at the core of everything we do. We believe in authenticity, sustainability, and quality. These values are reflected not only in our products but also in the way we treat our artisans and the environment.

Authenticity: We are committed to offering products that stay true to the traditional craftsmanship of the Zenú region. We work directly with local artisans, ensuring that each piece is a genuine representation of their culture.

Sustainability: Sustainability is fundamental to our operation. We ensure that the materials we use, such as caña fleha, are harvested and processed responsibly. Our production practices are designed to minimize environmental impact.

Quality: We believe that quality is non-negotiable. Each product undergoes rigorous quality control to ensure that our customers receive only the best. Durability and craftsmanship are key aspects that we deeply value.

Artisan Stories

The true heroes behind each InTuchin Handicrafts product are our artisans. Men and women who have dedicated their lives to the art of weaving caña fleha, using techniques that have been passed down through generations.

Arturo and María: A couple of artisans who have worked together for over 30 years. For them, weaving is a way of life, a tradition they share with their children and hope will continue in their family for many more generations.

Catalina: A young artisan who has brought a modern touch to traditional weaving techniques, creating innovative designs that still respect the cultural roots of the region.

These stories are the heart of our brand. We strive to support them not only through fair wages but also by providing opportunities for personal development and growth. We believe that by supporting our artisans, we are investing in the future of the Zenú culture.

Creation Process

The creation process of our products is as fascinating as the final result. It all begins with the selection of caña flecha, a material exclusive to the Zenú region. The caña is carefully harvested and subjected to a drying and preparation process that can take weeks._

Once the caña flecha is ready, artisans begin the weaving work. This is a meticulous process that requires precision, patience, and a deep understanding of the material. Each pattern, each design, is imbued with cultural significance. The colors used are not just decorative; each one has a specific meaning, and each combination tells a story.

The final product is much more than an accessory. It is a work of art, a symbol of the rich cultural heritage we want to share with the world.
